Upon driving through the opening gate, you are met by beautiful white goats. Standing along side rocks. They do not seem to mind us as they return to eating. While driving through and as we approached the next few areas, we were immediately surrounded by Black Bears that were relaxing, eating, playing, and allowing us to drive next to them as they peacefully roamed around. Does this sound straight out of a modern Jurassic Park? Yes, and because it practically is. Bearizona is located in Williams, Arizona off of the I-40 and the Historic Route 66, and will blow your mind!
Bearizona is an incredible wildlife adventure that allows you to drive through over 10 different animal habitats including Black Bears, Arctic Wolves, Alaska Thunder Wolves, Bison and much more. In the Drive through portion of the park, you can drive your own vehicle and get as up close and personal with these animals as humanly possible. For example, while we were driving through the wolves habitat, one actually “marked” its territory on the car in front of us. Talk about wild! They do ask that in certain habitats that you try to limit being close to the animals for long periods of time and keep windows up, but even in these habitats the picture ops are unbelievable.
On top of the drive through portion of Bearizona, it also has a walk through portion where they have a Jaguar exhibit, a Birds of Prey exhibit, Baby cubs of various ages, foxes, mountain lions and much more. In the walk through portion, we found ourselves stuck watching the baby cubs sunbathing and playing with acorns. Being able to be this close, in an environment where you know the animals have a great quality of life is beyond unreal. All of the staff is incredibly knowledgable and you can tell they are in it for the love and preservation of these beautiful creatures. Just another reason Bearizona is such an amazing experience!
We highly recommend you stop by on your next road trip and enjoy something that you don’t see everyday!
